June Newsletter: Welcome to Retirement Elevated in Southern Utah
Snow Canyon Retirement Community had the pleasure of hosting a few friends from the City of Santa Clara, including the City Manager, Brock Jacobsen, for a lunch and tour of our community. Don’t they look great in their Snow Canyon Retirement Community hats?
Our team, along with Gold Stream Retirement Communities President, Jim Petersen, were able to share construction updates and discuss how we will continue to support our city in the future. We look forward to a long-lasting partnership as we make our home here in Santa Clara, UT.
As construction continues to progress, we can feel the community starting to take shape before our eyes. With the building progress and addition of our new signage along Pioneer Parkway, we have been busy meeting with our future residents and helping them select their perfect homes. If you haven’t yet, be sure to give us a call to reserve an appointment.
We aren’t the only talk of the town though. If you haven’t heard, the PGA will be arriving this October at our neighbors, Black Desert Resort. The annual Huntsman World Senior Games are also in town this October.
We imagine that with many out-of-town guests getting ready to arrive in our area, our Sales Team will be busier than ever, and our list of available suites and private home lots will decrease. Call today to select your haven in Snow Canyon Retirement Community.
I look forward to seeing you soon,
– Colton Balmforth, Executive Director
Model Apartments Opening Soon
Our long-awaited furnished models are just two weeks away from welcoming you. We are putting final touches together and are excited to share everything Snow Canyon Retirement Community has to offer.
Since we cannot share a sneak peek at our nearly complete models, we thought it would be fun to share a few (of our many) floorplans you will be able to walk through in person. Featured above are The Cedar Breaks and The Zion floorplans. Cedar Breaks is one of our Independent Living Models, featuring two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The Zion is an Assisted Living Model with one bedroom and one bathroom.
We understand that a picture is just that, and envisioning your home via a floorplan can be difficult. However, with our Main Lodge at nearly 20% reserved for our rental suites, we invite you to reach out and book an in-person tour for when our models are open. Let us show you how these suites jump off the page in person!
Be sure to contact our Sales Team at 435.272.2385 and not miss the chance to select your perfect residence with Snow Canyon Retirement Community.
Snow Canyon Residences
The first model home within Snow Canyon Residences, our Red Sands floorplan, will be completed by the end of this month. We have been in awe of the design and finishes and are anxiously awaiting its’ time to shine.
As it deserves a grand reveal, we are planning an open house style event for the community on July 29th, 2024. Complete with catering, golf cart tours around the entire community, and much more! Keep an eye here for invites and more information soon.
For our Real Estate Professionals: We will be participating in the Washington County Board of Realtors “Board Tour” on July 30th, 2024. Be sure to attend in person for our presentation, followed by your own open house event.

Champagne Toasts at The Center for the Arts at Kayenta
Prior to last Saturday’s sold-out performance of Soiree Musicale with Jason Bonham at The Center for the Arts at Kayenta, Snow Canyon Retirement Community hosted a Champagne Send Off to celebrate our final Gold Sponsorship event this season.
Attendees enjoyed mingling with friends along with strawberry adorned champagne flutes and individual charcuterie cups. It was a treat to host this event and we loved the opportunity to connect with the patrons as well as the Kayenta community.
We truly enjoyed our 23’/24’ partnership with The Center for the Arts at Kayenta and hope to host you all at future champagne events!
We would be remiss without highlighting the incredible work done by our community partner, Digby’s Market, in helping to create the perfect pairings for our Champagne Toast.
Did you know Digby’s Market has a catering department? Heidi Orr is a catering connoisseur and created these stunning, Snow Canyon Retirement Community, charcuterie cups for our event. Digby’s delivered and stayed on-site to assist with serving and clean up. Wow!
The “Ooo’s” and “Ahh’s” from guests at our event were audible and we love sharing Digby’s fresh popcorn treats daily in our office as well. Stop in to see us soon for a sample and to see our models. Thank you, Digby’s Market!
Gallery Corridor
Snow Canyon Retirement Community is thrilled to announce our Gallery Corridor, a main throughway in our community that will feature local artists on a rotating basis, has selected its first artist upon opening this fall.
Charly Moore, located at Mystic Canyon Light Studio, in the Kayenta Art Village, is a photographer specializing in landscape and wildlife fine art. We are excited to showcase highlights of his work and hope to hear stories about each piece and what it takes to get those perfect shots. Thank you, Charly!
You’ll also find the stunning featured photo to the right in our Veyo Ridge Information Center next time you visit us!
Pickleball Tournaments
Snow Canyon Retirement Community sponsored its first Pickleball Tournament in conjunction with the City of Hurricane the weekend of May 10th, 2024.
While the competition was heating up, the athletes enjoyed some cooler temperatures with a brief storm over the two-day tournament. Participants enjoyed Snow Canyon Retirement Gift Bags, courtesy of our Snow Canyon Residences Team, Terri Kane and Johan Ramirez.
For our friends and neighbors at Entrada, be on the lookout for your upcoming Snow Canyon Retirement Community sponsored Pickleball Tournament on June 15th, 2024. See you on the court!
Featured Article: Here Comes the Sun
By Dr. Teri Ann Flint, LCSW
Inspired by the summer months soon arrival and Snow Canyon Retirement Community’s over 300 days of sunshine per year, the following article aims to inspire us to be present.
And what better way to enjoy the present than spending your carefree, Retirement Elevated days, partaking in Snow Canyon Retirement Community’s lifestyle. We cannot wait to share these days with you. Whether you join us for a sunset dinner at one of our exclusive restaurants or dive into a new book by our serene pool and spa, we know that each of you will find yourself enjoying the present at Snow Canyon Retirement Community.
Here Comes the Sun
Digging in the dirt, feeling the breeze while riding your bike, discovering a brilliant, flowering cactus on the hiking trail, and singing along to an oldie, but goodie Beatles song, “Here Comes the Sun.” These are times when you’re living in the present. They are moments when your mind and body are calm and peaceful, and we need more of them.
Living in the moment is called mindfulness. It’s purposely focusing your attention on the present without drifting into concerns about the past or future or getting caught up in making judgments about what’s happening. It is using all five senses to be fully aware of the present moment and present actions (Harvard Women’s Health Watch, April 2009).
Nadine Stair was 85 years old when she wrote this powerful life lesson about mindfulness, “Oh, I’ve had my moments, and if I had to do it over again, I’d have more of them. In fact, I’d try to have nothing else. Just moments, one after another, instead of living so many years ahead of each day.”
Mindfulness has been shown to improve physical and mental health. It can lower blood pressure, reduce chronic pain, and improve sleep. But the greatest benefit of this practice is to increase the enjoyment of life by simply paying more attention to everyday moments.
Here are some easy ways to try mindfulness:
- Choose a common daily occurrence–washing your hands, answering the phone–as a reminder to focus on the present and bring your thoughts to what you’re doing.
- Find a task you usually do impatiently or unconsciously–making your bed or waiting in line–and devote your full attention to the thoughts, sensations, and feelings you experience. When your mind wanders, gently bring it back to the task at hand.
- Stop and truly smell the roses. Notice everything about the flower as if you were seeing it for the last time.
With intentional patience and practice, we can begin today to follow Ms. Stair’s wise advice of “having nothing else, just moments, one after another…”.
